A. Vocabulary

escalator – a set of stairs moved up or down by electric power on which people can stand and be taken from one level of a building to another, especially in shops, railway stations, and airports

elevator – a device like a box that moves up and down, carrying people or goods from one floor of a building to another or taking people up and down underground in a mine

tap water – the water that comes out of the taps in a building that are connected to the main supply of the local water system

credit card – a small plastic card that can be used as a method of payment, the money being taken from you at a later time

CD player – a machine that is used for playing music CDs

MP3 player – an electronic device or a computer program for playing music that has been stored as MP3 files
